Goal:

Establishment and development of a vocational training centre in Asyut, Upper Egypt, offering vocational training with leaving qualifications on three levels (technical secondary school, advanced technical secondary school and technical college) and including a job-oriented education centre for qualification measures catering to the needs of local industry.

Description:

The project is intended to explore new avenues in vocational training in Egypt. Graduates of the vocational training programme will have sound, job-oriented, theoretical knowledge and a high degree of practical, occupational competence. The training is to be modelled on the vocational training in the German dual system (with as high a proportion as possible of training stages in companies), is to offer skilled-worker qualifications on two levels and, for particularly talented students, is to lead to anything up to a BA degree oriented to that of the Baden-Württemberg Fachschule für Technik (College of Technology). The fourth area that is planned is an education centre which provides qualification measures offered freely on the market and geared to the needs of local industry.
The ITEC Asyut is to train students in the specialist fields of metals and electrical engineering.

Scope of the project:

Planning of the school building

• Construction and remediation of the school building
• Equipping of the administrative buildings, the classrooms, the laboratories and the workshops
• Development of the school model based on the dual system in Germany and the prevailing conditions in the Egyptian vocational school system
• Development of curriculums and training plans
• Training and further education of teaching staff
• Development of a business model for the education centre
• Development of quality-assurance measures
• Transition of the model into sustainable regular operation
