Ethiopia: Ethio-German Programme for the Reform of TVET

Goal:

The improvement and development of the Ethiopian vocational training system in order to improve the job market opportunities (both in quantity and in quality) and the earning opportunities of graduates of the vocational school system and thus also sustainably support the development of the country.

Description:

In order to achieve the project goals, the capacity for training teachers to be deployed in Ethiopia's vocational schools is to be expanded, the quality of the training is to be improved and the country is to receive support in establishing a TVET agency.
The international partner for the project is IP Consult in Stuttgart, a long-standing cooperation partner of the Landesakademie , which assists in establishing and developing the Federal TVET Institute (FTVETI) in Addis Ababa by deploying short-term experts. Currently we are working on improving the equipment of the FTVETI and developing the competence of the trainers and the management of the institute by means of targeted training measures.

Tasks of the Landesakademie:

• Analysis and stocktaking of the current technical and material resources of the FTVETI
• Drawing up of lists of recommendations for the procurement of technical and material equipment together with the FTVETI
• Training and further education of FTVETI staff in using the newly procured media equipment and in employing it for teaching purposes
• SWOT analysis of the current status of the development of the FTVETI
• Benchmarking by comparison with Baden-Württemberg's training and further education system for teaching staff
• Implementation of additional customised further-education events for the staff and management of the FTVETI in Addis Ababa by further-education trainers from the state of Baden-Württemberg
