Goal:

On 22 January 2005 a declaration of intent was signed by the State of Baden-Württemberg, the region of Alsace as well as the Dijon, Lyon and Strasbourg academies to collaborate in the area of vocational training. The signatories thus set the cornerstone for the establishment of the Academy for Vocational Training (ABB) based in the Landesakademie (State Academy) in Esslingen.

The declaration of intent named four pedagogical goals and tasks:

• Goal 1: To promote the exchange and dissemination of information, expertise and experiences in the vocational field.
• Goal 2: To further develop joint strategies for harmonising and improving mobility, in cooperation with the partners from the business community.
• Goal 3: To reinforce the vocational competences of the apprentices and trainees, of the trainers and of the managerial staff.
• Goal 4: To develop and carry out joint further education courses.

• Set-up and updating of the homepage

• Networking with partners from the business community

Next steps:

On 22 January 2015 a declaration of intent was signed by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Baden-Württemberg, and the Académie de Strasbourg to develop and establish the joint additional qualification AZUBI-BACPRO.

In order to reach the goals laid down in this joint declaration of intent, both parties have agreed to take over the following tasks:

• Implementation and evaluation of the pilot project comprising eight cooperation schools (four binomials)
• Joint development of a guideline for introducing and implementing the additional qualification AZUBI-BACPRO
• Joint creation of a curriculum and a hand-out on intercultural competence with subsequent bilateral training courses for teachers
• Awarding of certificates for the successful acquisition of the additional qualification
• State-wide introduction and extension of the additional qualification to cover further areas of vocational training according to the criteria laid down in the guideline

Task of the Landesakademie:

Network coordination:

• Organising and running of cooperation courses which bring together German and French partner schools
• Budgeting of the first meetings between partner schools
• Offering advice and support to vocational schools to help them implement the cooperation
• Developing learning aids on the topic of intercultural competence using professional terminology
